Cecelia, you're breaking my heart! An amazingly detailed, fineweave antique rug, with a lively all over pattern (I see pinecones and daisies) and beautiful abrash. Cecelia has beautiful coloring, gorgeous mauves, chartreuse, Persian blue, black, melon, evergreen, ivory and great movement with sporadic moments of navy. She's an antique kilim, woven with the slit tapestry technique, a common Persian technique in which wefts turn back at the meeting of colors to leave slits between each color, making these Kilims reversible. She has some wear, some repair, expected with a rug of her age.
Part of our Muse Collection / "Cecelia" was written by Paul Simon and was named after "the goddess of music" or rather the Catholic patron of musicians. Catchy and upbeat, much like our Cecelia rug, the strange sounding rhythm of this track was Paul and Art slapping their thighs, while Paul's brother thumped a piano bench and a friend strummed a guitar with its strings slackened. The more you know.
